ASTON VILLA BEAT READING
Aston Villa outclassed Reading in the Barclays Premier league match held yesterday.The match held at Madjeski stadium saw Villa beating their opponents 2-1 and with this Reading are moving very close to the relegation dog fight while Villa's dreams of champions league soccer is getting ever so near.Goals were scored by winger Ashley Young and substitute striker Marlon Harewood and Reading have now lost record eight fixtures in a row and are appearing they would definitely be relegated.Gareth Barry missed a first half penalty and this had no impact on the game as Villa cruised to a victory.A consolation goal for Reading by Nickey Shorey ensured that Reading got their first goal in 540 minutes.

CROUCH ADMITS DEFEAT

Liverpool and England target man Peter Crouch has said that Liverpool have not played upto their potential to mount a serious challenge to the Premiership title.Liverpool are now 14 behind Manchester United and 10 points behind chelsea couretsey of their 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.Crouch has found it extremely hard to get into the first team of Liverpool this season but scored an equalizer against Villa in the 88 th minute to keep Liverpool in hunt for the top three finish.Crouch has been linked to Portsmouth but he has reiterated his future to the club despite the cloud hanging over Benitez and the club's future itself.

DEFOE TO ASTON VILLA OR NEWCASTLE?

There were reports and strong suggestions that Jermaine Defoe went to Birmingham and had a look at Aston Villa's training ground.Martin O Neill the Aston Villa manager refuted the claims that Jermaine Defoe was on the brink on signing up with his club and denied having a strong contact with Defoe himself.O Neill however denied not having an interest in Defoe and Aston Villa could bid for him and Newcastle's new manaager could also attempt to land him in order to have a partnership between him and Micheal Owen.What happens to this benched Tottenham star remains to be seen.
