Chris Paul on fire

Chris Paul collected 32 points and 17 assists as the New Orleans Hornets routed the Dallas Mavericks for the second straight game with a 127-103 victory.

David West scored 27 points and Peja Stojakovic added 22 for the Hornets, who took a commanding 2-0 lead in the Western Conference first-round series ahead of game three in Dallas on Friday.

It was another MVP-calibre performance for Paul, who converted 10 out of 16 from the field and committed just three turnovers. He also became just the eighth player in NBA history to collect at least 30 points and eight assists in back-to-back play-off games.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and Josh Howard added 10 for the Mavericks, who did not have another starter score in double figures.

Dwight Howard recorded his second straight 20-20 play-off performance with 29 points and 20 rebounds as the Orlando Magic claimed a 104-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors to take a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference first-round series.
