WEST HAM THRASHED BY CHELSEA

West Ham was defeated 4-0 by Chelsea in the Barclays premier league game held yesterday.Ten man chelsea picked themselves up to defeat a woeful westham 4-0.Frank Lampard was sent off in the first half and even that failed to take the gloss of this Chelsea performance who stayed in touch with the league leaders Arsenal and Manchester United.Lampard,Joe Cole and Micheal Ballack scored within five first half minutes and Lampard was given his marching orders in the 34 th minute for tackling Luis Boa morte.Ashley cole rounded off the game with a 4-0 win for Chelsea.

BALLACK CONFIDENT OF HIS PARTNERSHIP

Chelsea midfield star and German captain Micheal Ballack has said that he was very confident that his partnership with Frank Lampard will work very well.Ballack and Lampard played together in the match against Liverpool which ended a goalless affair.It was the first time that the two had paired up together.Critics though are not convinved that the German captain can forge a partnership but the German captain thinks otherwise.Lampard's future in the club has also come under speculation and he has been linked to the serie a club Juventus strongly.

TORRES OUT FOR CHELSEA CLASH

In what could be a big blow for Liverpool the clubs's leading goal scorer of the season Fernando Torres could be out for the game against Chelsea because of hamstring injury.Torres played for Spain in the mid week friendly against France and asked himself to be substituted against France which Spain won 1-0.Arberola,Agger and Fabio Aurelio will all miss the crucial game against Chelsea on Friday because of suspension and injuries.Mascherano is also out of the town to play the international friendly for Argentina.This has created a big headache for Benitez.

DROGBA HAPPY AT THE STAMFORD BRIDGE

Didier Drogba has said that he is very happy to be at Chelsea and they still have a chance to wrap up the season as the league champions.Drogba has reiterated his happiness with the club despite claiming remarkably in an interview in the month of November that his heart was no more at Chelsea.Drogba is currently playing in the African cup of nations for Ivory Coast and hopes to fire his country into the semifinals by defeating Egypt and all of them hope he will do that too.He also described that he gives 100% while playing in Chelsea shirt and wants to win the Champions League this season.

DROGBA WELCOMES ANELKA

Didier Drogba insisted that he was not fighting with Anelka for a place in the Chelsea lineup.Anelka has signed up for 15 million pounds and it has raised eyebrows about the abundance of chelsea strikers once Drogba and Kalou return into the starting lineup from the African Cup of Nations.The duo are confident of complementing each other and form a potent scoring threat for the opposition.We can look forward to this terrific four of Shevchenko,Kalou,Anelka and Drogba to score more goals in the upcoming weeks.

ANELKA JOINS CHELSEA

Bolton and French international striker Nicolas Anelka joined Chelsea from Bolton on friday morning.This will add strength to the depleted chelsea lineup who have already lost Drogba and Kalou due to African cup of Nations.Micheal essien and John Obi Mikel will also be missing from their line up due to the same reason.Anelka has been in excellent form for Bolton all season long and was rumoured to be associated with chelsea during the past week.Grant is said to be partnering him with shevchenko against Tottenham for this upcoming EPL weekend clash at Stamford bridge.

ARSENAL VS CHELSEA:Chelsea here will look to throw one over Arsenal today and this will give rise to a three horse race for the crown though Chelsea are very much still in the race their performances this season are lacklusture and this win will boost their ego and confidence.Arsenal will go out there to throw away Chelsea from title contention.

Celestine Babayaro is to be released by Newcastle and the club will pay his wages upto the remaining months of his contract which expires at the end of the season.Babayaro started playing Champions league football as a teenager in Andrelecht and then became a popular player and household name of EPL at Chelsea.After the Chelsea revolution he was purchased for 1 milllion pounds by the Magpies.He has not been able to show his best form and hasnt been a popular player with the fans.He last played for the club on march 31 against Manchester City.He has been deemed surplus to the requirements by the Club after the arrival of Jose Enrique and the rumoured switch of Wes Brown.He was noted by the fans for his loyalty during the 2-1 win over Liverpool when his brother just died few hours earlier.
