Another promising high school baller when he graduated from Renaissance High School in Detroit, Michigan, Malik Hairston was considered a top-ten prospect when he entered the University of Oregon.
Now no longer the superstar people had projected him to be at pro level, Hairston will still make a good professional in the NBA for his all-around basketball ability.
The "jack-of-all-trades" possesses good length, lateral speed, jumping ability, and great strength. Hairston also spots a good jump shot, connecting on 53% of his shots and 43% from downtown during his senior year at Oregon.
On defence, the 21-year-old is able to play great on-ball D, thanks to a superb sense of timing. He isn't the best team defender at the moment, but is young enough to pick it up when he transits into the NBA.
Hairston should be able to carve out a niche for himself at the next level as a spot shooter/ defensive specialist like Trenton Hassell and Raja Bell if he is drafted in the second round.
